Since coming together in 2024, Villarreal has been carving out its place in the Atlanta music scene, driven by a shared history, a deep connection to music, and a sound entirely its own. Comprised of Kiira Shackelford [drums], Luke Shackelford [bass], Heidi Woods [vocals], and Alex Burton [guitar], the psychedelic blues-rock band is built on more than just a shared stage. Kiira and Luke are siblings, and Woods, who grew up alongside them, has long been part of the family. Burton brings friendship and connection to the group, completing a lineup built on genuine relationships and a natural chemistry that carries into their music, shaping the band's identity both on and off the stage.

Villarreal's sound blends swirling, atmospheric sounds with gritty blues-driven riffs, soulful vocals, and pure energy of rock. Their music moves between hypnotic, moody passages and explosive instrumental moments, balancing experimentation with a powerful, grounded sound. Since emerging on the Atlanta scene, the band has played 30+ shows throughout the area, steadily building a following through energetic live performances and dynamic original songwriting.

That momentum continued on September 1st, 2026, with the release of their debut EP, "Postcards Home." A defining milestone for the band, the EP captures Villarreal's blend of psychedelic atmosphere, bluesy soul, and rock intensity while offering a glimpse into the sound they continue to develop. Their work has also received regional media attention, with features in Off the Record with Isaiah (2026), Records Near Me (2026), and ShoutOut Atlanta (2023).

With new material in the works, Villarreal continues to push creatively, making music together and bringing it to life onstage. Rooted in the Atlanta music community and strengthened by a bond that extends beyond the band itself, Villarreal is building toward its next chapter with a growing catalog, an evolving sound, and plenty more to say.
